A serious crash shut down a portion of Bluebird Road indefinitely after a semi-truck driver was killed in a crash Wednesday, WSMV reports.
A semi traveling westbound on I-40 near mile marker 247.8 crossed the median and all eastbound lanes, then went through a tree line before striking multiple trees and coming to rest on Bluebird Road.
The driver, identified as 61-year-old Joseph A. Blackburn of Mississippi, was killed in the crash.
According to Wilson County deputies, 9400 block of Bluebird Road remains closed indefinitely due to a diesel fuel spill. Marion Environmental Group is handling cleanup operations.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews work to clear the scene.
