On September 18, 2025, Wilson County Animal Control (WCAC) responded to a call on Oak Grove Road regarding a small black dog that appeared to be injured.

Officers located the dog wearing a blue collar and suffering from a severely injured front right leg. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian, where x-rays revealed bullet fragments inside the leg. It was determined that the dog had been shot twice, once grazing the spine and another striking the front right leg at the elbow, causing it to shatter.

WCAC is actively investigating this case and asks for the community’s help in identifying the individual(s) responsible. A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of those involved, with additional rewards from private donors.
