July 9, 2024 – A convicted felon with a stolen handgun is back in jail after an officer spotted him acting recklessly in the Academy Sports parking lot.

Around 6:50 p.m., a 21-year-old felon from Nashville visited Academy Sports to buy a laser/light combo attachment for a handgun.

This handgun had been stolen from an unlocked car in Nashville in April. An officer in an unmarked vehicle, along with a separate witness who called 911, saw the man waving the gun around as he walked through the parking lot.

The man, on probation for a previous evading arrest incident (out of Nashville) involving a stolen car and handgun, was promptly arrested.
