The City of Mt. Juliet invites the public to a wreath-laying ceremony held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Center Clock Tower site located at the intersection of N. Mt. Juliet Road and E. Division St.
Mayor Maness and the Board of Commissioners will proclaim September 11, 2021, as Patriot Day in the City of Mt. Juliet, an annual observance on September 11 to remember and honor those injured or who died during the terrorist attacks in the United States on September 11, 2001.
At the wreath-laying ceremony, the Mt. Juliet Police Department and Fire Department of Mt. Juliet will each lay a wreath at 9:30 a.m. to honor the fallen police officers, firefighters, military, and civilians killed during the attacks. The time of 9:30 a.m. CST coincides with moments after the final tower fell (10:28 a.m. EST) and just after the last National moment of silence.
The ceremony will be a solemn remembrance with quiet peacefulness and personal reflection. The community is encouraged to bring flowers or bouquets to lay next to the wreaths at the clock tower to honor the many civilians who lost their lives or were injured. The flowers will remain through the weekend while the clock tower is lit red, white, and blue.
