In light of passing this year’s 2022-2023 budget, the Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners has tasked Fire Department administrators with creating an ambulance division within the Fire Department for the City of Mt. Juliet.

This will help address the almost 3,000 calls for service (85 percent of which are medical in nature).

“After years of carefully exploring our options and meeting with similar cities that have faced the same challenges, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure we have the emergency services in place that our citizens need and expect to meet today’s demands and our future needs,” Mayor James Maness said.

Upon completion, the Mt. Juliet Fire Department will have an ALS 911 response ambulance in each of its three stations plus a roving convalescent EMS transport operating transfers from long-term care facilities to doctor’s appointments, dialysis, etc.

“The administrators of the Fire Department for the City of Mt. Juliet applaud and appreciate this vote of confidence from the Mt. Juliet City Commission. This effort will further solidify the city’s intent to provide a high level of service for the citizens, visitors, and businesses of Mt. Juliet,” Fire Chief Jamie Luffman said. The new budget goes into effect on July 1, 2022.
