Lainie Norris Townsend was born in Hermitage, Tennessee, on Tuesday, November 14th, 1978, to her loving parents, Stanley and Sandra Norris, and was carried to Heaven in the arms of angels to join our Lord on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at the age of 45 years old.
A graduate of Mt. Juliet High School, Lainie soon met her husband, Robert, when she was just 16 years old. The two reconnected a couple of years later on a Wednesday afternoon in the Kroger parking lot and have been inseparable ever since. Lainie’s life was filled with dreams, eternal optimism, fun, humor, family, and friends. She loved life and lived it to the fullest extent. Her greatest joy was being a mother to her beautiful children and being “Lay Lay” to her precious grandbaby. The lake was her favorite place in the entire world, and you could often find her on the water, boating, or fishing.
Daughter of the King, Lainie’s love for the Lord poured into everything she did whether it be listening to music, podcasts. She was a faithful servant and attended church every Sunday. Lainie lived every day of her life looking forward to the promise of Heaven. Although those she cherished deeply are shattered, she is experiencing everything she’s ever been taught about, read about, sung about, and prayed about. The reassurance that we will meet Lainie at the Gates of Heaven one day will help mend our broken hearts. Until then, we will honor her genuine, pure soul by helping others as Lainie always did.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by husband, Robert Townsend; children, Angel Townsend (Hunter) Faler and Devin Townsend; granddaughter, Aurora Faler; siblings, Kenny Godwin, Derek (Sandy) Godwin, Tony (Susan) Godwin, and Sandy Wiley; nieces and nephews, Brittany, Desirae, Candace, Matt, and Michael; aunt, Margo Douglas; cousin, Jansen Douglas.
The Funeral Service, conducted by Bro. Danny Sellars, will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet, on Friday, November 8th, 2024, at 01:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 8th from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 01:00 p.m.
