The Criminal Investigations Division is asking for the public’s assistance in an Animal Cruelty investigation.

On September 18, 2025, Wilson County Animal Control (WCAC) responded to a call on Oak Grove Road regarding a small black dog that appeared to be injured. Officers located the dog wearing a blue collar and suffering from a severely injured front right leg. The dog was taken to a local veterinarian, where x-rays revealed bullet fragments inside the leg. It was determined that the dog had been shot twice, once grazing the spine and another striking the front right leg at the elbow, causing it to shatter.

A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of those involved. If you have any information, please contact Detective Sergeant Donnell at 615-444-1412 extension 252, or via email [email protected]
